Brett Johns is officially a Bellator MMA fighter.
The former UFC bantamweight has reportedly signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion, according to Ariel Helwani of ESPN. The exact details of his contract remain unknown.
Johns is fresh off his stint with the UFC where the 28-year-old beat Tony Gravely (via submission at UFC Fight Night 166) and Montel Jackson (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 172) before he decided to test free agency following his final bout in July.
While Johns failed to defeat top tier bantamweights Aljamain Sterling (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 128) and Pedro Munhoz (via unanimous decision at UFC 227), the Bellator newcomer has a solid record in the UFC overall. Johns also competed in Titan Fighting Championships and Cage Warriors Fighting Championships and the bantamweight remained undefeated during his stints in both promotions. Coming in, Johns has a professional record of 17 wins and 2 losses.
Bellator MMA has been signing numerous fighters lately, with the most notable being LFA Featherweight Champion Justin Gonzales and former two-time M-1 Light Heavyweight Champion Viktor Nemkov. Johns enters a stacked division featuring Sergio Pettis, James Gallagher, Patchy Mix, Kyoji Horiguchi, and the World Bantamweight Champion Juan Archuleta.
There is no word at this time as to when Johns will make his promotional debut or whom that bout will come against.
