Is Vince McMahon returning to sports?

Vince McMahon is currently locked in a lawsuit with Janel Grant. One would think that the former WWE CEO would be putting all of his focus and energy on the serious allegations levied against him, but there’s been rumors circulating for months that Vince McMahon would be starting a new wrestling company.

The flames to that fire was quickly put out when news sources claimed that Vince was done with professional wrestling, but then Vince McMahon launched a sports and entertainment company named 14TH & I. According to Wrestlenomics, it’s an investment firm focusing on opportunities in sports, media, and entertainment.

It’s been quiet on that front since, but news just recently broke that Vince McMahon made an attempt to buy a controlling interest in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

What is Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship?

It’s a contact sport without any padding on the hands. Basically boxing without gloves. Conor McGregor is actually a minority owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. There are plenty of former UFC stars on the roster including Mike Perry, Eddie Alvarez, Thiago Alves, and Andrei Arlovski.

The news about Vince almost buying BKFC came from Justin Barrasso from Undisputed, with BKFC founder and president, David Feldman, confirmed a meeting with the former WWE CEO.

“He’s a great guy, his whole team is great, but the timing wasn’t right for us,” said Feldman. “He’s Vince McMahon–if I were him, I’d want creative control, too. He was awesome, very complimentary, and he was very serious to do business.”

Reportedly, Feldman wasn’t willing to give full control of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. It’s not stated whether an offer was made and for how much. It’s unclear where Vince McMahon will go next, but one thing’s certain, the 79-year-old refuses to stay retired and he will continue to try and find something new. Vince McMahon starting a new wrestling company isn't too far-fetched, though it would be shocking if wrestlers were willing to work with the former WWE CEO.

Even if most people are willing to ignore the damaging lawsuit, the WWE product was on a downturn because of Vince. Add in the numerous backstage stories about his strange rules and behavior and i'll be a surprise if wrestlers were willing to put up with that. Plus, these allegations are quite damaging to Vince’s name in the professional wrestling world. Of course, anything is possible. We’ll just have to stay tuned to find out what happens next.
