Colby Covington defeated Brazilian star Demian Maia via unanimous decision at UFC Sao Paulo. During the build, The UFC welterwight consistly trashed Brazil essentailly playing the "heel" going by wrestling terms. However, during Covington's post fight promo, he once again trashed the city; describing it as "a dump" and its fans as filthy". Covington was massively booed off stage and had trash and water bottles thrown at him as he exited the octagon.

UFC Senior Vice President David Shaw was none too thrilled about the comments Covington made about Brazil and its fans and that officials would review the matter. On Sunday, The welterweight star issued an apology for his actions, but the apology didn't come across as too sincere:

Sincere or not, Covington's heelish antics are fun to watch. This reminds me of the memborable Brock Lesnar promo after his win against Frank Mir at UFC 100. Whether you like him or not; Covington's personality stands out in a good way, especially when it comes to building up a fight. You either want to pay to see this guy get knocked out or you want to see him win.
