Fighting for the first time in a main event match, No. 4-ranked light heavyweight contender Dominick Reyes certainly rose to the occasion, knocking out Chris Weidman in the first round.

Weidman, who was making his light heavyweight debut, came into the fight a bit undersized, but was hoping to rely on his wrestling to overmatch Reyes. While Wediman did successfully take Reyes to the ground early on, it was only for a moment. Reyes brought the fight back up and clipped Weidman with a left hand that dropped him to the canvas. As Weidman tried to recover, Reyes landed a series of hammer fists, one of which might have temporarily knocked out Weidman. Either way, referee Herb Dean had seen enough and halted the bout at 1:43 of round one.

Following his impressive win, which moved him to 12-0, Reyes issued a challenge to current light heavyweigh champion Jon Jones.

"Hey [Jon] Jones, I don't want any party favors. I want that belt. Let's go!" Reyes said after the fight.
