Gilbert Melendez’s time with the UFC has come to an end.

The former UFC Lightweight has reportedly been cut by the promotion, according to Fight Book MMA. Melendez was on a five-fight losing streak, as the California native lost to Anthony Pettis, Eddie Alvarez, Edson Barboza, Jeremy Stephens, and most recently, Arnold Allen. The fighter hasn’t won a bout since UFC 166 in 2013.

Throughout his UFC career, Melendez has only won one fight. Despite his lack of wins within the promotion, the 37-year-old has consistently given entertaining fights throughout his career, most notably against Diego Sanchez and Jeremy Stephens.

As of this writing, neither the UFC or Melendez has issued any comments regarding the release. The fighter exits the promotion with a record of 22 wins and 8 losses.
