Wanderlei Silva is officially done with Bellator MMA.
The former UFC star signed a deal with the promotion back in 2016, but didn’t have his first fight until late 2017 against Chael Sonnen. He then faced Quinton “Rampage” Jackson later on in 2018. Silva lost both fights; however, it was the revelation that the 43-year-old had several concussion-like symptoms that put a halt to his career.
Bellator president Scott Coker told
MMA Fighting that Silva would need to get “complete clearance” from brain specialists first before he approves another fight involving “The Axe Murderer”.
Despite his winless record in Bellator, Silva is still one of the most accomplished and respected fighters in MMA, as he’s had several memorable bouts with talents such as Chuck Liddell and Brian Stann. Silva’s record currently stands at 35 wins, 14 losses, and 1 no contest. According to the site, the veteran MMA star is in talks with Bare Knuckle FC.
