Ronda Rousey is making it clear that she’s NOT coming back to MMA.
Last month, the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion released a video showcasing her training in MMA again. Rousey made it clear that she was doing it just to get back into shape. However, the internet turned this into a huge speculation that Rousey could secretly be training for her comeback. Even Dana White was questioned on the possibility of Rousey making a potential return.
“Her and I are still very close and we talk,” White told reporters during UFC 320’s post-fight press conference. “I would say we probably talk once every three months or something like that. She was in Vegas recently, and she came by the offices, but I don’t know what her plans are. I think she’s just training again.”
When pressed if he’d be willing to throw her on the huge upcoming UFC White House card, White was unsure.
“No, I haven’t,” White revealed. “He just had three babies, and she’s in a whole other place in her life. But, I will say this: She’s just had another baby, and she’s in great shape right now. She’s frigging ripped like she used to be. So, I don’t know.”
But Ronda is putting all of these rumors to rest for good. The former UFC star went onto the Breakfast Club recently and she made it clear that an MMA return is not in her future.
“It came from a place of joy, and I just want to do it because I enjoy it instead of feeling obligated or forced to be doing for one reason or another. It’s what my body really wants. I’ve been training my whole life and I feel healthier and better. I want to train again. It makes me happy. It’s funny that I’m training and everyone is like, ‘What are you training for? What are you doing?’ ‘For my own joy. Is that bad?'”
Ronda then responded to Charlemagne, who said that people thinks she’s returning because of her training.
“They’re like, ‘Well, you look so good.’ Well, because I’m the greatest ever, of course, this is what happens when I train. I look great, I’m sorry. I don’t have to have a plan for world domination in mind. Mike Tyson coming back and being the biggest fight of last year kind of proves that I don’t think anyone is done.”
Ronda is 38, so it isn’t far fetched to believe that a return is possible though father time gets the best of ever MMA fighter and that could be the same for the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. Or she could come back and have a career resurgence. We don’t know if Ronda is truly training to return to the octagon, though that moment would be huge if she decides to fight again.
