Former WWE Superstar And UFC Legend Ken Shamrock Praises CM Punk's First MMA Fight
CM Punk may have lost his first fight in the octagon, but the fact that he had the guts just to step in there with little to no experience has earned him the respect of one Ken Shamrock. More past the jump...
Not many people would even attempt to describe CM Punk's first foray into the world of mixed martial arts as a success, but the former WWE Champion has still managed to win the respect of one of the biggest stars in the history of the sport.
Ken Shamrock, who also made a name for himself WWE many years ago, was recently interviewed by wrestledelphia.com, and when asked what he thought about Punk's UFC bout against Mickey Gall, The "World's Most Dangerous Man" says he was impressed by the fact that the "Best in The World" would even try his hand (well, fist) at the sport with so little experience:
"I thought [CM Punk] took more of a risk than myself, Brock [Lesnar], or anybody else. His background isn’t in wrestling, as far as amateur. His background isn’t in mixed martial arts. His background is just in pro wrestling.
So for him to go from pro wrestling, which he was a superstar in, into the MMA world – where he didn’t have any kind of background with submissions or grappling – and going into [UFC], that was a big risk…I thought he did a great job and applaud him for what he did.”
CM Punk is believed to be training for another trip to the octagon, but we have yet to hear anything official on that yet.
