Ian Machado Garry outclassed Carlos Prates.

After suffering his first MMA loss at UFC 310, Garry silenced any doubts about his skills with a rather dominant win over Prates. Now it wasn’t a lopsided victory as Prates was able to land a couple of shots and the final two rounds were more in favor of the Brazilian native.

In fact, Prates came extremely close to get a huge TKO victory in the final round, but Garry was able to survive until the belt rang. Carlos Prates has now suffered his first UFC loss, with his record standing at 21 wins and 7 losses. Garry’s win now advances him to 16 wins and 1 loss. However, this fight also earned him the opportunity to be the back-up fighter for UFC 315's welterweight title fight between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena.

In the co-main event, Smith didn’t get the result he wanted as his bout against Zhang Mingyang ended in a first round TKO. This ended in a blood bath as Mingyang was simply too much for Smith to handle as his striking game led to a ground and pound victory that kept Mingyang undefeated in the UFC. The Light Heavyweight's record is now 19 wins and 6 losses. Smith goes out with 38 wins and 22 losses.

Despite the devastating loss, Smith refused to be sad about his final UFC bout not ending in his favor.

“It’s weird,” Smith said to MMA Junkie. “Because I’m used to fighting, whether you win or you lose, you go onto whatever’s next. You start rolling through this Rolodex like, 'All right, I lost, so I’ve got to find this guy, I’ve got to chase this ranking.' You win, you’re looking ahead. There is nothing else.

“So I’m refusing to be sad. I shouldn’t be allowed to be sad. It’s been a long journey. I’ve been doing this since I was 17 years old, I’m going to be 37 in a couple of months. I got enough. I built my life around what I was able to do in this sport. It’s afforded me opportunities I was never, ever able to have. I’m forcing myself to be happy that it happened and not sad that it’s over.”
