At Bellator 231, Jake Hager had his most controversial contest to date.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and All Elite Wrestling star looked to win his third MMA fight in 2019; however, the bout ended up being ruled a no contest. Hager was dominant early in the bout and busted open his opponent, Anthony Garrett; however, the 37-year-old made the mistake of kneeing Garrett in the groin twice while he had Garrett in the clinch. The bout was called off due to Garrett being unable to continue.

Despite the no contest ruling, Hager remains undefeated. The AEW star stated during the media interview following the fight that he didn't land a knee onto his opponent, claiming that Anthony Garrett wanted out of the fight. His Inner Circle crew of Santana, Ortiz, and Sammy Guevara were there at ringside to support the AEW star.
