For Jorge Masvidal, his bout against Kamaru Usman is personal.
The issues between Masvidal and Usman are well known at this point, with the reigning UFC Welterweight Champion previously blasting “Gambred” by calling him overhyped and stated earlier this year that he doesn’t believe that Masvidal deserves an opportunity at the belt.
Back in January, these two almost came to blows at a Super Bowl event, and both men haven’t let up on the insults since. Masvidal has been in the fight game for over ten years so the welterweight understands that trash talking is just apart of the business; however, when it comes to Usman, he feels that the 170-pound champion has crossed the line:
“Like I said in the Askren fight, before and after. It’s never personal, it’s always business and there’s just people that I probably don’t get along with too well with.” Masvidal stated during his interview with MMA Junkie. “But Usman for a fact has crossed lines that no other competitor that I’ve fought have talked about. He’s talked about things he’s going to do to my b**thole. Which I don’t understand why he’s talking about my b**thole.”
Masvidal continues to explain his issues over the comments Usman has made in the past:
“He’s talking about my ethnicity, whether I’m this or that. He’s telling people that I’m saying I’m God, he can’t find the video or a twitter thing, nothing saying that I said I’m God.”
While Masvidal intends to play by the rules on Saturday, he promises a violent beating on Usman at the pay-per-view:
“So this guy’s just doing a lot of things that are gonna cause him to get hurt in a very violent way. If the referee trips on the way to stopping me I get to get a couple extra extra punches, I wouldn’t mind.”
