Patchy Mix has not had the best luck since joining the UFC.
The 32-year-old is one of the greatest Bellator fighters during that promotion’s prime. A former (and final) Bellator World Champion, Patchy had beaten high level names such as Sergio Pettis, James Gallagher, and Magomed Magomedov.
Coming in, Patchy’s record was 20 - 1; With an impressive 7-fight winning streak. However, once Bellator was brought out by PFL, he parted ways from the promotion. That allowed him to sign with UFC and he had some huge buzz surrounding his name going into UFC 316.
Unfortunately, Patchy suffered a big loss to Mario Bautista via unanimous decision. It wasn't the star-making showing that the former Bellator Champion was looking for, but he got a chance to redeem himself at UFC 320. Patchy definitely put up a strong performance against Jakub Wikłacz and he seemed on the verge of getting his first UFC win once the bell rang in the third round.
But Patchy would end up taking a second straight loss via split decision. It was certainly a shock to many fans and critics who felt that he had one in the bag. That now puts him in a two-fight skid. A first in his professional career. Patchy finally addressed his UFC loss and he took a calm and level headed approach to his surprising loss.
“Walking home from the arena, man, it just hits you, you know?,” Mix said on his Facebook Page. “Just got to keep it in perspective. Can’t win split decisions and be happy when I win them and then when I lose them, I can’t be upset, either.
“Much respect to my opponent and his team, and just got to get back to the drawing board, get better.”
Patchy isn’t the only fighter to have a rough start in his UFC career and he won’t be the last. He can definitely bounce back from this and get a huge win in his next fight. He looked so much better in his UFC 320 bout that it would be shocking if his next match ended with him taking another loss.
At this time, there’s no word on when Patchy will step back into the octagon. The medical suspensions haven’t been released just yet so there’s no detail on whether he sustained any serious injuries. This was Patchy’s second fight of 2025, so it’s likely that he won’t return next year, but again, that’s simply pure speculation on my end.
