Serghei Spivac had a forgettable UFC debut back in May, getting TKO'd in the first round to Walt Harris, but his second fight was much more impressive. Entering UFC 243 as an underdog, Spivac scored a major upset over the No. 14-ranked heavyweight Tai Tuivasa.
Despite a shaky start to the fight, Spivac grew more comfortable as the fight progressed. Spivac used his size and athleticism to counter the hard-hitting Australian star, scoring multiple takedown attempts throughout the first round.
Spivac continued his grappling approach and was even more dominant in the second round. After taking Tuivasa to the canvas yet again, Spivac got into the mount position and dropped an elbow that opened up a cut on Tuivasa's face. From there, "The Polar Bear" locked in an arm triangle choke that put Tuivasa to sleep at 3:14 in round two.
It was Spivac's first win in the UFC as he moves to a professional record of 10-1. Western Sydney's Tuivasa falls to 10-3.
