The welterweight bout between Tim Means and Niko Price lived up to expectations and proved to be one of the more exciting fights at UFC Fight Night (ESPN+ 4) in Wichita on Saturday. Both fighters came out aggressive and traded some pretty powerful shots, but it was Niko Price who emerged victorious with a first-round knockout.

Following the fight, Tim Means revealed he had suffered a broken tibula and ankle. “I do my best to leave it all in the ring every time out so the fans can get what they paid for,” Means wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself in a cast in the hospital halls. “Wasn’t my night. I have to get surgery, broken [tibia] and ankle. Niko caught me with a punch and my foot got stuck under me. Much respect to [Price] . See y’all down the road. Thank you to everyone for the kind words.”

You can see the awkward fall in the highlight of the knockout below. Means's wife, fellow fighter Brenda Gonzales-Means, shared a close-up shot of the injury.

Prior to the knockout, Means appeared to be in control of the fight as he bloodied Niko Price early on. But as we all know, it only takes one punch to turn the tide in the Octagon. Means did not offer a timetable for when he can return from the injury.
