Liz Carmouche is officially done with the UFC.
In a surprising move, one of the first female's to compete inside of the UFC is officially gone from the promotion. Worse yet, Carmouche was let go from the company while doing promotional work for the UFC. Ariel Helwani first revealed the news about Carmouche’s release, and then stated that the fighter had actually found out during her promotional campaign for the company.
Carmouche made a statement to
MMA Junkie on Friday, as the fighter said she was “pained a little bit” about the entire situation. The 35-year-old last competed inside the octagon against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC Fight Night Uruguay for the Women’s Flyweight Championship. She lost the bout via unanimous decision.
Following her fight against Ronda Rousey at UFC 157, Carmouche gained impressive wins over talents such as Jéssica Andrade, Jennifer Maia, and Lucie Pudilová. The Louisiana native leaves the company with a record of 13 wins and 7 losses. There is no word yet on what the future holds for Carmouche.
