Could Conor McGregor make in the WWE? It's certainly not the first time the question has been asked, but The Notorious once again hinted at a future in the ring.
McGregor took to social media this morning to congratulate last night's Wrestlemania main event participants: Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and former UFC champion Ronda Rousey. It was an exciting match that ultimately ended with the fan-favorite Lynch pinning Ronda Rousey to win both the
Raw and
SmackDown LIVE Women's Championship belts. McGregor, a former double champion in the UFC, congratulated Lynch on the feat, while also praising the performances of Rousey and Flair.
He didn't stop there, though. At the end of his post, he addressed Stephanie McMahon while posing the question of whether or not he could succeed in the WWE. He certainly seems confident enough.
"Stephanie McMahon you are right, I could not do what these athletes do," McGregor wrote.
"Or could I..."
McGregor's UFC future remains up in the air. Last week, the former double champion tweeted he was retiring from MMA; although, he seemed to have changed his mind just four days later. McGregor is eligible to return in two weeks from his six-month suspension for a post-fight brawl following his match with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. However, his future in the sport remains unclear.
Ronda Rousey's smooth transition from the UFC to the WWE, where she has been embraced by the fans and rose to superstar status, has opened up all sorts of opportunities for McGregor in the sport. He certainly has the personality and athleticism to succeed in the ring. And for what it's worth, Stephanie McMahon recently praised McGregor's "huge personality," telling
TMZ Sports that she would love to have him (and former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski) in the WWE.
Do you want to see Conor McGregor compete in the WWE, or do you think he should stick to the UFC?
