This past Saturday at UFC 214, Jon Jones took out longtime rival Daniel Cormier and followed up his victory by calling out WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar. The two have already exchanged barbs online in what seems to be the beginning stages of a fight between the two and now UFC President Dana White has weighed in on the possibility of Brock's long rumoured return to the Octagon.
"I guess Lesnar just talked to the Associated Press, he said ‘Be careful what you wish for, young man,'" White said of the budding rivalry between the two men. "Listen, Lesnar would take six months for him to even go through USADA to fight. So it’s fun to talk about, but the reality of it happening any time soon … it’s not a reality."
That doesn't exactly sound good but there's something worth remembering here. If Lesnar - who reportedly met with UFC officials a few weeks ago - entered the USADA testing pool then, his suspension will be up by December 30th, the date of UFC 219. That would be a case of perfect timing for all parties involved and leaves Lesnar free to prepare for WrestleMania in April.
One thing we do know is that Lesnar won't be shown any leniency this time around. Ahead of his UFC return last year, The Beast was allowed to skip the mandatory six month USADA testing period so he could fight at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt. However, as Lesnar then failed a drug test which turned his win into a No Contest and led to a lawsuit, UFC will be playing it safe this time.
