The G1 Climax will officially make its return next month.

NJPW has confirmed that the annual round-robin style tournament will start in Osaka, Japan on September 18 and end on October 18 in Tokyo, Japan. Thus far, the participants for the yearly competition have not been confirmed.

Lately, the tournament has held 20 wrestlers who will be separated into two blocks (Block A and Block B). Last year, top talents such as Jon Moxley, Will Ospreay, Jeff Cobb, Kazuchika Okada, and Tetsuya Naito competed, with Kota Ibushi and Jay White ultimately winning their respective blocks. The former NEVER Openweight Champion would defeat The Bullet Club leader to become the 2019 G1 Climax winner; however, Ibushi would fail in his quest to win the IWGP Heavyweight title.

There’s no word on who’s scheduled to participate in this year’s competition; however, NJPW is hoping that international talent will be able to take part of this year’s event. Unless EVIL drops the heavyweight title between now and the G1 Climax, he’s the only guaranteed entrant in the tournament as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion is always a guaranteed participant.
