New IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions will be crowned very soon.

The company has confirmed a four-team round robin style tournament to determine the new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. The prestigious belts were vacated by Roppongi 3K after YOH suffered a knee injury back in June. Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato, Hiromu Takahashi & BUSHI, El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Taiji Ishimori & Gedo will get an opportunity to become the newly crowned champions.

The tournament will end on September 11 at the New Japan Road Tour with new champions set to be determined at the upcoming event. The tournament will start on September 5 and the four teams will compete in six matches in span of three nights of the tour in Chiba.

Two points will be awarded to winners, zero to losers with one point each in the event of a draw; after the final league match in Sendai on September 9, the top two point scoring teams will then face off in a championship match on September 11 in Korakuen Hall.

BUSHI and Taiji Ishimori are former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions; however, both men have won the belts with different partners.
