This past weekend, New Japan Pro Wrestling crowned two new champions!

One of them is Shingo Takagi, as the Los Ingobernables de Japon member defeated Hirooki Goto to capture the NEVER Openweight title. The 37-year-old and Goto are no strangers to one another, as Takagi beat the NJPW veteran decisively during the G1 Climax tournament.

Since that time, Goto would go on to Wrestle Kingdom 14 and defeat KENTA to win the belt for the fifth time. However, Takagi would also win gold of his own, as the NJPW star, Bushi, and Evil walked out of the big event as the new NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions.

Since his debut in 2018, Takagi has greatly impressed within the Japanese promotion thus far. This is the first singles title for the Los Ingobernables de Japon member. Takagi is also a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with Bushi.
