Roppongi 3K are no longer the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions.

After the duo won the respective titles at Wrestle Kingdom 14, SHO and YOH have decided to relinquish the belts. This is all due to YOH being unable to wrestle after suffering a knee injury back in early July.

Since then, SHO has competed as a singles competitor in NJPW and even received an opportunity at the NEVER Openweight Championship back at Dominion. However, without his partner YOH, the duo can not defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles. SHO made the announcement himself yesterday at the Summer Struggle show:

Roppongi 3k were only able to defend the prestigious belts twice, beating Suzuki-gun (El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) at The New Beginning in Osaka 2020 show and then Rocky Romero & Ryusuke Taguchi at NJPW New Japan Road 2020 - Tag 1.

New Japan was forced to shut down due to the coronavirus a couple of weeks later. For now, SHO will continue competing as a singles competitor, though he makes it clear that he’ll challenge for the belts again once YOH returns. There’s still no word on how long his partner will be out of action.
