The NWA World Women’s Champion has finally been beaten!
At NWA’s 77th Anniversary show, Kenzie Paige finally met her match as Natalia Markova got the better of the 23-year-old. This wasn’t her first attempt at the world women’s title. Markova challenged Paige for the belt on three separate occasions and she came up short on the first two. However, the last match between her and Paige ended in a disqualification.
This is Markova’s first run as the NWA World Women’s Champion. In fact, this is her first run as an NWA Champion.
On August 27, 2023, Kenzie Paige shocked the world.
The then 22-year-old finally put an end to the title reign of “Brickhouse” Kamille. The former NWA star held the belt for an astounding 812 days, beating big names such as Chelsea Green, Taya Valkyrie, Taryn Terrell, and Melina, but Kenzie Paige overcame the odds and beat Goliath in a remarkable match.
Since then, the young star has managed to win every challenge that’s been put in her way. Max The Impaler, Roxy, Stevie Ash, Ruthie Jay, and Saraya Saber are just a short list of names that Paige has beaten in order to reach the 720-days of being the NWA World Women's Champion. She didn’t topple Kamille’s title run, which is a bit surprising since it seemed that the NWA was heading for another recording setting title reign.
It was time for Paige to drop the belt. She had essentially beaten everyone on the roster and though a character change could’ve been in order, giving it to Markova made more sense. Kenzie had successfully defended the world title 32 times against women from different companies. Her biggest win (other than Kamille) came at the Crockett Cup where she beat former WWE Women’s Champion Natalya. It should be interesting to see where NWA goes with Markova and Paige.
The former can perhaps go onto the tag division with her sister Kylie. Kenzie is also a former NWA Worlds Women Television Champion, so she’s nearly done everything as a singles star unless they opt to change her character. As for Markova, there’s no indication on who could be her next challenger, but just like Thom Latimer could get a rematch for losing the NWA World Heavyweight title, so can Kenzie. Nevertheless, congratulations to Natalia Markova!
