The NXT Tag Team Championship titles have changed hands at WWE Stand & Deliver on April 19, 2025, with Fraxiom (Axiom and Nathan Frazer) losing the belts to Hank Walker and Tank Ledger!
How did the underdogs come into this title shot, let alone overcome the odds and win? Let's break it all down!
How We Got Here:
Both Hank Walker and Tank Ledger haven't been very successful in NXT. Whether it be singles competition or the tag team division once they formed their partnership, their story has pretty much been about how they can't get the job done as they lost nearly every match no matter how much advice they were given by more successful tag teams like The Hardy Boyz, Pretty Deadly, and The Street Profits.
After coming to the realization that they needed to just be themselves and not try to emulate others, Hank and Tank ran through a gauntlet on NXT by beating Tyson Dupont & Tyriek Igwe, The Culling, and No Quarter Catch Crew to earn this shot at Fraxiom, who have long been having issues with each other despite their continued success.
Match Details:
There isn't all that much to analyze about the match itself. Axiom and Nathan Frazer brought the speed while Hank and Tank focused more on power.
Frequently throughout, the champions were able to twist themselves out of a predicament, or move out of the way for Hank doing a dive to the outside, which had him land on the commentary table.
Ultimately, it was a double-team maneuver of a Boss Man Slam, followed by a combo smash between The Belly Boys of a running powerslam and a spear to Frazer's back that did him in.
Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:
The NXT tag team division is an odd mix of a lot of talented people, but nobody who stands out as the definitive next in line. No Quarter Catch Crew, The Culling, Tyson & Tyriek, and even OTM when they return could all be in the running. Don't forget about DarkState, too, though it's hard to tell which two of those four would go for the tag titles (unless it would be in a Freebird Rule type of situation).
At least for Axiom and Nathan Frazer, they've done all they can do in NXT. It's time for them to move up to the main roster. Hopefully, that will happen at least by the time the 2025 WWE Draft goes down.
