WWE Appears To Have Scrapped Plans To Rename The NXT Women's Championship The NXT Championship

It was recently reported that the plan was for the NXT Women's Championship to be referred to as the NXT Championship moving forward so it's on a par with the men's title but that idea has now been scrapped.

A couple of weeks ago, NXT announcers started referring to the NXT Women's Championship as just the NXT Championship in a bid to put the title over as being on a par with the men's NXT Championship. Alas, almost as soon as that happened, it seems the idea has now been scrapped.

Interestingly, it was just the day before this change was made that Becky Lynch talked on WWE Backstage about the women's division no longer being referred to as the "women's" division. Those comments led to some online backlash which Lynch was then forced to address, so it's possible that what happened could have factored into this decision.

On RAW, WWE's social media accounts, and last night's NXT, Rhea Ripley's title is back to being called the NXT Women's Championship so it looks like it's now business as usual in terms of its name.

We'll let you guys know if anything more changes.
