This past Sunday at the Impact Code Red event, LAX defended their World Tag Team titles against longtime rivals oVe and the New York Wrecking Krew. As expected, the match was filled with high octane action, but it appears to have come at a cost as Santana revealed on social media today.
The Impact World Tag Team champion posted a picture of his of leg in a brace and revealed that he suffered a stage 2 tear of his left MCL while working the triple threat match on Sunday:
“The next day, I went to see the same exact doc that took care of me at the show,” he wrote on Instagram. “Had an ultrasound done on my knee which showed a stage 2 tear in my MCL. It’s being held together by strands and he’s surprised that it didn’t completely tear during the rest of the match. He stressed the importance of rest if I want to avoid surgery and risk being out for a longer period of time.”
According to reports, the recovery time tends to be between two to four weeks with this type of injury; however, Santana hasn’t yet confirmed the timetable for his recovery. This won’t affect LAX wrestling on Impact at the moment, as the company has just finished up their recent set of tapings.
