Is a war between NXT and WWE starting soon?
At Slammiversary, Jacy Jayne pulled off an amazing feat as she became the only woman in wrestling history to be a two division champion holding the NXT Women’s title and the Knockouts Championship. Add in that Trick Williams is currently the NXT Champion, and WWE is ruling over TNA at the moment.
There was an interesting segment that took place shortly after Slammiversary. It saw Eddie and The System talk about going to war with NXT and how the TNA faithful need to band together.
So are NXT and TNA going to war?
If so, what part will former WWE/NXT star Steve Maclin play in his upcoming battle between the two brands? The International Champion spoke to MuscleManMalcolm and he explained how he's preparing for it.
“I’m prepared just as I’ve always been prepared. It’s just like you always expect the unexpected in professional wrestling and never say never. Things that you wouldn’t think are gonna happen always end up happening. You had AJ Styles coming back at Slammiversary. Nobody ever thought that and here we are 11 years later coming back to his home.
But for me, if whoever wants to cross that line, I’ve been saying it for months, I’m the one that holds the line. I’m the TNA International Champion. That’s my job. That’s what I instill in myself is to go out there and stick up for my own company and my own brand, and if they wanna go to war, they can go to war. I’m ready to take on a bunch of failed athletes, cause that’s what the NIL guys are. They’re just failed athletes that are picking another profession.”
Should TNA go to war with NXT, there are a couple of stars on the developmental brand that Maclin would like to face. He reveals who he has the most interest in fighting.
“One that’s been sticking out to me for the past couple of weeks is Ethan Page. I think All Ego, the North American, now his Canadian style title he’s got on that North American title versus the international champion would be a pretty good matchup to have.”
That should be a great match. Here’s hoping that those two lock up sometime soon. Check out the full interview where Maclin talks about his career in TNA, working for WWE, and so much more.
