Former AEW EVP Cody Rhodes shocked the world when he decided to leave that company and sign with WWE. It's not exactly like Vince McMahon had ever treated him, or his family, particularly well and most fans assumed he would be buried simply due to his role in creating AEW.
Instead, we've seen Rhodes booked as a top star and he's now both one of WWE's most popular babyfaces and a bigger name than he ever was in AEW.
There have long been rumblings about others in AEW taking note of how Cody has been handled by WWE, and with that company hotter than ever right now, could a couple more EVPs be gearing up to join the American Nightmare?
If they're ever going to make the leap, the moment their current deal expires would be the right time to do so. However, AEW President Tony Khan is looking to sign many of his biggest stars to new, long-term deals.
The Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, and The Young Bucks) plans to stick together no matter what and, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, "The prevailing belief is that the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Adam Page are staying [in AEW]."
According to the wrestling historian, WWE believed they could sign Omega several months ago, but since then, that impression "has gone cold, so they do believe he’s staying with AEW."
You never know what could happen in the crazy world of professional wrestling, but all signs point to Nick and Matt Jackson remaining with AEW. They don't have the same sort of family history with WWE as Cody does and are bound to be reluctant about working for the company with Vince McMahon back in charge.
The Young Bucks would likely make more money than ever before if they were to sign with WWE now and the matches they could have with the likes of The Usos, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, The New Day, and Imperium would be undeniably awesome. Still, it seems Khan is willing to match that.
Stay tuned for updates.
