Boxing icon Tyson Fury is a big pro wrestling fan and has appeared on WWE programming on multiple occasions. In fact, he made his in-ring debut back in 2019 when he defeated Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia and later provided Drew McIntyre with some backup at Clash at the Castle in Cardiff, Wales, last year.
On October 28, Fury will take former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou in his professional boxing debut. His WBC Heavyweight title won't be on the line and the fight will once again hail from Saudi Arabia.
Discussing the bout with Sports Illustrated, Fury made his interest in returning to WWE clear.
"I’ve been doing this for 15 years, which is a long time," he told the site. "I know it won’t last forever. And it’s true. I’ve had a few good stints in WWE. There is still a lot of opportunity there."
"It’s an amazing experience there," he added. "At the moment, I’m very busy with boxing. I’m still active and on top of my chosen profession, so this is where my focus will be. After that, we’ll see."
Hyping up his clash with Ngannou, The Gypsy King added, "Who’s the baddest motherf**er on the planet? That’s what this fight will tell you. We’re both two heavyweights in our prime. It’s two worlds colliding."
Responding to those who believe he shouldn't be squaring off with the former UFC fighter, Fury didn't mince his words and made it clear that the haters won't stop him from taking part in a fight many feel is little more than a gimmick put on for those with deep pockets in the Middle East.
"They’re just jealous that I’m getting a bag and they’re not," he states. "It’s a large bag. I can barely carry it. No matter who you are or the profession, haters are going to hate. Go back in history and name the critics."
"Is it good or bad for boxing? Those are opinions of sheep, and that means nothing to the king of the jungle."
We'd certainly be interested in seeing more of Fury in a WWE ring as he took to the business extremely quickly. He has a larger-than-life personality well-suited to in-ring action and, once his boxing career concludes, he could make big money making just a handful of appearances each year.
Do you think he'll emerge with a victory over Ngannou later this month? As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
