During this past July's Money in the Bank PLE in London, England, John Cena made a surprise appearance to hype fans up about WrestleMania potentially coming to the UK one day.
That's a carrot WWE has been dangling over the heads of UK fans for several years now, though last September's Clash at the Castle proved the company can quite easily sell out a stadium on that side of the pond. AEW, meanwhile, managed to (mostly) fill London's Wembley Stadium for its All Out PPV this past August.
Triple H played coy when asked about a UK WrestleMania during the Money in the Bank press conference, though we've since heard WWE is legitimately interested in bringing the Show of Shows to Great Britain.
However, due to London being a city that has no trouble attracting tourists, they don't need to court WWE for a WrestleMania in order to boost visitors. As a result, they're not going to get paid to bring the Showcase of the Immortals to the Big Smoke, a stark contrast to what happened in Wales.
Time will tell whether the event ever becomes a reality on that side of the pond but, in a recent interview with Good Karma Wrestling, Scottish WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre shared his take on whether the the Showcase of the Immortals is UK-bound.
"Looking at the way the business has evolved and our business model now, and how many international shows we do, and how successful they are for the company, and the time difference isn't that bad for the UK," the former WWE Champion explains. "I heard that for years, and I complained and I complained and I complained, and then finally we got Clash at the Castle [in 2022]."
"I was like 'We're doing a show in Australia, have you seen the time difference there? Don't be silly, we can do a show in the UK.' Now, the idea of a Mania is very much possible. I know how successful it would be for the company, but I know how amazing it would be for the fans [as well]," McIntyre adds. "I know how much fun it would be for everyone around the world to watch, because we know how crazy and fun and wild the UK fans are."
For now, we'll have to wait and see what happens, but if not London, then Cardiff may be an option. The only downside there is the city doesn't really have a suitable venue for RAW and SmackDown.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
