During last night's episode of SmackDown, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns made his way to the ring and introduced fans to the newest member of The Bloodline: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Wearing gear very much in line with what we saw from his 1999 heel run, The Rock embraced his new heel persona by tearing into the fans in Salt Lake City and proceeded to mock Rhodes for his loss at last year's WrestleMania. He also blamed the "inbred" fans for costing themselves the biggest 'Mania main event of all time with the #WeWantCody movement.
While it was undeniably fun to see "Hollywood Rock" return, Johnson hit a few familiar notes with his promo so it will be interesting to see how his character evolves as we head further down the Road to WrestleMania.
Right now, it looks like we're getting The Rock and Reigns vs. Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins but nothing is confirmed. Regardless, this promo wrapped up with a seemingly united Bloodline, and that's a dangerous thing!
Since Vince McMahon was ousted from the company, WWE has excelled at long-form storytelling, often dropping hints and teases about future storylines weeks or months before they play out in their entirety.
During this promo, eagle-eyed fans noticed that The Rock appeared to point at Reigns when he said, "The Rock is going to do everything in his power to make sure you walk out of WrestleMania what you are, which is a loser."
Could this be a hint he's in cahoots with Rhodes to help dethrone the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania, setting up a match between the two somewhere down the line? We'll see, but that would make for quite the swerve.
