Crown Jewel is taking place in Saudi Arabia as planned and while WWE has received a great deal of backlash for going ahead with the show, it seems as if the worry of losing millions of dollars over the next decade has helped them to ignore that (if WWE pulled out of the deal, their stock prices would plummet and they'd face any number of sanctions for pulling out of all the contracts they've signed).
During a recent radio show, ESPN's Dan Le Batard weighed in on the company dealing with the Saudi's after the government ordered the murder of Jamal Khashoggi and he had nothing good to say.
"Did you see that WWE is still going to Saudi Arabia? What a bad decision that is. But, it’s the sewer and the sewer is going to behave like the sewer. There’s a lot of money in Saudi Arabia, so much money, so wrestling is going back to Saudi Arabia as we wonder whether Saudi Arabia kills journalists with bone saws," he exclaimed, giving WWE even more bad press.
"It’s not a hard statement to make. You’re usually not this overt about ‘We’ll take your money even though you’re being investigated for killing a journalist with a bone saw.’ We’re usually not quite that overt like, ‘Yeah, we’ll take your money, your blood money.’ Don’t they have people who are refusing to partake even though Vince McMahon runs something of a dictatorship?"
Like it or not, Crown Jewel is taking place next Friday but it probably won't include John Cena and Daniel Bryan based on recent reports. As always, be sure to stay tuned for updates as we have them.
