Last January, a lawsuit was filed in federal court by a former WWE employee, Janel Grant, who is suing Vince McMahon for rape, sex trafficking, and battery (McMahon has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence, though the civil case has yet to be settled one way or the other).
The document made for disturbing reading and detailed a relationship that allegedly turned sour fast. McMahon has been accused of sharing naked photos of Grant with other senior WWE employees, forcing her into group sex, verbally and physically degrading her, and causing injuries with sex toys. Some of this misconduct is said to have crossed state lines, hence the mention of trafficking.
McMahon has parted ways with WWE's new owners, TKO Holdings, and appears to have little interest in returning to the company he put on the map. It's also highly unlikely Endeavor would want him given the backlash guaranteed to follow any sort of comeback attempt.
There's already been some chatter online about McMahon starting an entertainment company (potentially with his son, Shane McMahon) but whether it will have anything to do with professional wrestling has yet to be established.
Shortly before his time as WWE Chairman ended, McMahon debuted a startling new look; he dyed his hair jet black and was rocking a pencil moustache. His "movie villain" makeover later disappeared and has now been replaced with another...interesting...hairstyle that's generating a lot of discussion on social media.
McMahon was also rocking a bright green suit, almost certainly meant to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
In recent weeks, the billionaire has been making quite a few public appearances. He was spotted at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans alongside Shane and The Undertaker and was front and centre at courtside in Madison Square Garden for this game between the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks.
McMahon was facing criminal hush money charges, all of which were dropped in January not long after his longtime friend, Donald Trump, became President.
"The case is closed. Today ends nearly three years of investigation by different governmental agencies," McMahon said at the time. "There has been a great deal of speculation about what exactly the government was investigating and what the outcome would be. As today's resolution shows, much of that speculation was misguided and misleading."
"In the end, there was never anything more to this than minor accounting errors with regard to some personal payments that I made several years ago while I was CEO of WWE," he continued. "I'm thrilled that I can now put all this behind me."
