Fox Wants SMACKDOWN LIVE To Feature Less Comedy And A Lot More Serious Wrestling

One of the reasons NXT is so popular is because it puts the spotlight on serious wrestling as opposed to goofy comedy segments and silly storylines. However, when it comes to SmackDown Live, it appears as if things are about to change because the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Fox is planning to position the soon to be Friday night show as part of its weekend sports block.

As a result, it's said that the network wants SmackDown Live to be less about comedy and for it to be taken more in a
sports direction. What that probably means is we'll see less segments like Truth TV and more actual wrestling as Fox is clearly looking to promote a show which sports fans can enjoy rather than one full of adolescent humour and silly storylines which most fans don't appreciate.

How Vince McMahon feels about this is hard to say but considering the fact Fox has paid huge money to air SmackDown Live on Fridays, there's a good chance WWE will do what the network wants.
