We've been seeing a lot of squash matches on RAW and SmackDown as of late and the former was made up almost entirely of popular Superstars taking on jobbers a few weeks back (to overwhelmingly negative reviews). Now, details on what the deal with that have been revealed.

During last night's episode of RAW, NXT's Deonna Purrazzo was taken out by Asuka and on next week's show, Chelsea Green will take on that role in a match against Charlotte Flair. According to Dave Meltzer, the idea is that they're not stars yet, so they won't suffer by picking up these losses on television (the same goes for main roster talent like Akira Tozawa and No Way Jose).

"One of the things that Paul Heyman is trying to do is get people wins. So, they are doing a lot of these one and two minute matches to get over finishing moves and get people wins."

It's also said that the Erick Rowan segments have been doing strong numbers in the quarter hours, hence why the mystery surrounding what's in his cage is being stretched out to such a silly extent. Next week's RAW will also see Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black taking on jobbers.
