Timothy Thatcher reported to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando earlier this week and is expected to start on NXT soon. The 36-year-old's arrival in the company definitely came as a surprise and Dave Meltzer has now shared more details about that on Wrestling Observer Radio.

While the popular Indie star has actually been on WWE's radar since WrestleMania weekend in 2015, he turned them down at the time because WWE "wasn't his thing." He also had a regular job in Sacramento and was happy wrestling on a part-time basis. Ultimately, he left that job and started wrestling in Germany and Meltzer claims that Thatcher was hoping he could next break into Japan.

Well, that didn't happen and it's said that after he was unsuccessful landing a contract in the Far East, he finally decided to sign with WWE.

There's no denying that he'll bring a lot to NXT, though, as he's worked in promotions like wXw, EVOLVE, Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, PROGRESS Wrestling, MLW, RevPro, CZW, among others.
