Jey Uso Addresses Fan Backlash To WRESTLEMANIA Match With Jimmy: "We Did Let The People Down"

The long-awaited WrestleMania match between Jey Uso and his twin brother Jimmy didn't receive a particularly warm response from fans. Now, Jey has broken his silence on that and what may have gone wrong.

Fans spent years wondering what it would be like to see The Usos go one-on-one and it finally happened at WrestleMania XL earlier this month.

Following The Bloodline's implosion, Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso squared off in only the third brother versus brother match at the Showcase of the Immortals. Unfortunately, the bout was deemed a disappointment and has since been declared perhaps the worst match on the entire two-day card.

Both are more than capable in the ring but, for whatever reason, something didn't click. During a recent interview, Jey shed some light on that by acknowledging they might have let the fans down and confirmed their time was cut.

"I just said this to someone. I kinda felt like we did let the people down. [Really, you feel that?] Yeah, man, cuz I wanted to go out there and have a straight up banger too. I wanted to do the wrestling part but let alone make sure the emotion part is there," he explains in the video below. "It was just a time issue. You know what I’m saying?"

"You just gotta play your position on the team. That’s what happened. I’m still happy though, uce, I got a singles match at WrestleMania with my brother. That’s a big picture. So, I’mma always have me and him in a face-off at WrestleMania. I’mma frame a picture, that’s always, it’s marked off our box. I just wish we could have went the way I know we can, but…"

"[Is that something that happens on the night? Like, do you find out just before your time is cut?] Oh, yeah. 'Yo, yo, man, they went over this many minutes. Sorry, sorry.' You know, it’s all good, you know. Just go out there and handle business."

It is a shame they didn't get the match they wanted, though it's hard to say how much of a difference adding a few extra minutes to this confrontation would have made (it ended with Jey picking up the win courtesy of a Superkick and Splash).

A rematch is likely off the table as Tama Tonga recently joined The Bloodline and took out Jimmy alongside Solo Sikoa. The hope now is that The Usos will reunite, though Jey is still finding success as a singles star and will challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at Backlash
