John Cena has been doing the rounds to promote The Suicide Squad lately, but he's also been talking about his recent WWE return. Despite being on his way to becoming a Hollywood A-Lister, the former WWE Champion knows he's more of a supporting player in the ring these days, and shared his thoughts on the current state of the company he made a name for himself in.
Like many fans, Cena believes that WWE needs to be careful not to rely too heavily on older talent to put butts in seats (both he and Goldberg will be in main event matches at SummerSlam).
"Man, I wish there was some sort of fountain of youth where I could be a full-time contributor," he said. "The longer they continue to bet on an ageing prospect, that makes (WWE’s) future a little bit less stable." He hits the nail on the head here; WWE is clearly struggling to make new stars, and that's because the company continues to focus on big names from the start.
Of course, once they reach a certain age, they're treated badly, hence why Legends like The Big Show, Mark Henry, and Ric Flair have all recently left WWE.
As for Cena, he's likely planning to stick around until September, but beyond that, he'll be returning to Hollywood and WWE will not have him there to help them boost RAW and SmackDown's ratings.
