WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle retired from in-ring competition in 2019. It wasn't the greatest end to his career as his final match took place against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 at a time when he was no longer at peak physical form.
The Olympic Gold Medallist has blamed that on ring rust caused by being made RAW General Manager and, while one more bout is now off the table, there are many fans eager to see Angle take on a manager role.
There had been talks about him becoming Matt Riddle's mentor on TV, though talks are believed to have fallen through when WWE and Angle couldn't agree on cash or creative.
Talking to K&S WrestleFest, Angle admitted he would still be open to becoming a manager, potentially for Chad Gable, the Creed Brothers, and Ivy Nile's new heel faction, American Made.
"If the money was right, I think Chad and his gang that he has right now, that would be a great idea," he said. "I got approached by WWE when Matt Riddle started and they wanted me to manage him but the offer was just...it wasn't worth it."
"Unfortunately, you know, I love the business but you also have to be a businessman and you have to make the right decisions for your family," Angle concluded.
In the same interview, Angle was asked to share his thoughts on the WWE roster and singled out current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther as someone he's been particularly impressed by recently.
"Oh, he's a great talent. I love his talent. He's a great technician," the former WWE Champion noted. "I wouldn't want to be in front of any of his chops though"
He added, "Yes, yes [I'd love to have had that match in my prime]. I think it'd be a really great match. I would put it up there with Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit. I think he's really that good."
Only time will tell whether Angle does return to WWE in any sport of permanent capacity. We know he and Triple H are good friends so it's certainly possible, but at the same time, American Made needs to stand on their own two feet rather than relying on Angle to get them over.
Regardless, it's always a pleasure seeing Kurt on WWE TV and we hopefully won't have to wait too much longer before he shows up on RAW, SmackDown, or NXT.
