Are Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens hard to work with?
According to Matt Riddle they are. Though the current MLW World Heavyweight Champion is no longer with the promotion, Riddle had a pretty good run in WWE where he came close to winning the Universal Championship on several occasions.
Riddle was one of the components that worked against The Bloodline faction before his departure. Riddle notably worked a six-man tag team match against the OG Bloodline alongside Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at Backlash 2023. In fact, the trio worked together a lot during that time period.
But apparently, it was difficult to work with the former WWE Tag Team Champions. Riddle made the statement after the host questioned who was the hardest wrestlers to work with during his appearance on the Going Ringside podcast.
"Hardest opponent? Hardest opponent in the ring? I would have to say Sheamus. Sheamus, easy to work with, hits really hard. So hardest in the ring. But, then when I think about who’s harder to maybe work with, I would have to say Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens… It’s hard to put a complete sentence together with those guys if you know what I’m saying… Very difficult. Sheamus hits ya hard, but it’s easy to put together.”
This actually isn’t the first time that Riddle has stated that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were hard to work with. The former WWE star did "Signed By Superstars" virtual signing in early 2024 and elaborated a bit more on why it was difficult to work with these two.
"Sami and Kevin are really nice people," Riddle said. "They're nice guys. They're really good at wrestling. Yeah, I've always enjoyed them. I don't know if they've always enjoyed me, but that is what it is. I would say the only thing is its sometimes difficult to get that match together sometimes. But the match always comes out beautiful, it's always great, it's always exciting. So I do enjoy working with them, for sure. They're good guys."
Owens and Sami have yet to respond, and it’s doubtful that they will. Riddle isn’t particularly dissing the two WWE stars, he’s just saying that they didn’t mesh well together when it came down to planning matches. Of course, there could be more to the story as we’ve only heard Riddle’s side, but it’s rare that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn respond to things like this so all we have to go on is Riddle’s word.
