Last week, it was revealed that WWE Co-Presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson has departed the company and Vince McMahon later said it was down to a "different view of execution of our areas of focus." Now, though, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed some light on what may have happened behind the scenes.
It's said that Barrios and Wilson wanted to maximise WWE's current profits to build the stock price up. Vince, meanwhile, wanted to do the same thing but had other plans to do so which the Co-Presidents didn't agree with. One of the biggest issues was reportedly the Chairman's desire to heavily invest money in signing and stockpiling new talent to maintain WWE's monopoly in the wrestling world.
Vince also remains keen to create more regional offshoots like NXT UK to dominate different markets around the world to regain the aforementioned monopoly which has been impacted in recent years by companies like New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling.
Needless to say, it will now be interesting seeing if this a strategy that works out for WWE...
