More Evidence Mounts That Kevin Owens Could Be Heading To AEW...Much Sooner Than We Expected!

Kevin Owens recently took to Twitter to seemingly tease the possibility that he could make the leap to AEW, and we now have intriguing details on when his contract expires and a big hint from The Young Bucks.

As we mentioned yesterday, Kevin Owens recently took to Twitter to seemingly tease that he might be planning to leave WWE and sign with AEW. In 2018, the former Universal Champion mentioned in an interview that he'd signed a five-year extension, meaning he wouldn't be a free agent until 2023 at the soonest. However, it sounds like something has changed since then.

According to Fightful, Owens' deal with WWE is up in January. During the pandemic, the company restructured several big-money contracts, and Owens had his shorted to 2022.

That could be because he requested to leave WWE or more likely because it means that he could be signed to a new, cheaper deal at a sooner date (which would save the company money in the long run). As a result, Owens will have his freedom soon, and it's hard to imagine he wants to stick around after the way he's been booked since his feud with Chris Jericho ended.

After posting the coordinates to Mt. Rushmore (a faction he was once part of alongside Adam Cole and The Young Bucks in PWG), he changed his bio to read "Almost There." Now, Matt and Nick Jackson have changed their bios to "There."

It feels a lot like something is brewing, and we have a feeling that, by this time next year, we'll see Owens alongside the likes of Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, and Ruby Soho as part of the AEW roster.

Keep checking back here for updates.

By this time next year? If all the other recent AEW signing are any indication, how about, by end of January?

@CorndogThief - This reminds me of the Monday night wars between WCW and WWE.

I think with all these sackings and stars backstage being unhappy is a bonus for AEW.
