Naomi Forced To Relinquish The Women's Championship On Tonight's SMACKDOWN LIVE

While specific details are currently scarce, tonight's episode of SmackDown Live kicked off with an emotional Naomi forced to relinquish her newly won Women's Championship due to injury. General Manager Daniel Bryan stated that she had to do so because she was unable to defend it within 30 days, a sign perhaps that Naomi likely won't make it to WrestleMania due to that event just 40 days away.

It's thought that the reason she won the title was so she could go
into her hometown of Orlando as champion, and while it's possible Naomi could make a comeback of sorts to win it there, it seems unlikely and a strange creative direction to take things in just two weeks after she finally won it!

Chances are we'll find out whether or not this injury is legitimate or some sort of work in the next few days, but as of right now, Naomi is no longer SmackDown Women's Champion. In fact, as we write this, Bryan just announced a match between former titleholders Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch with the championship on the line, so we'll let you know how things play out! [UPDATE: Bliss just captured the title to become a two-time champion!]
