RAW Commentator Wade Barrett Confirms He'd Come Out Of Retirement For A Match With Drew McIntyre

Wade Barrett is calling the action on RAW these days, but following some recent verbal altercations with Drew McIntyre, he's confirmed that he'd be open to wrestling the Scotsman at a UK SummerSlam...

Wade Barrett never received the WWE Championship reign many fans felt he deserved and, sfter successful stints as "Bad News Barrett" and "King Barrett," he left the company in 2016.

The former Intercontinental Champion returned in 2020 as a member of NXT's commentary team and, since 2022, has hopped between RAW and SmackDown (he's now calling the action on Monday nights alongside Joe Tessitore).

In recent weeks, we've seen Barrett attempt to calm Drew McIntyre down during his ongoing feud with CM Punk. However, the Scottish Psychopath appears to have grown irritated with his old pal's interference and tension between the two men continues to grow.

AceOdds recently spoke with the colour commentator and asked what it would take for him to step back into the ring for another match.

His answer? Drew McIntyre.

"Anytime I get asked this question, if I could have one match for the remainder of my days on this planet and you're allowed one more match, who would it be? And it would absolutely be me against Drew McIntyre at Wembley Stadium. A sold out Wembley Stadium, I think that is the pinnacle for British wrestling, especially if you're fans of the era back when Davey Boy and Bret Hart competed in 92 at that SummerSlam."

"If they dangled that in front of me at any point in time, yeah, absolutely. I'm coming back and I'm having that sold out match at Wembley Stadium. But that is a bit of a pipe dream. It's not something I'm actively pursuing or trying to pursue. I'm fit and healthy, if something came up where they say "okay, there's a match here, would you be interested in doing it?' if it makes sense to me and I was excited to do it, absolutely, I could."

"The other thing I would say though, is I look at the kind of schedule that Cody Rhodes has, for example, it's a killer at this point in time for me. I'm 43 years old, not too far from 44. The prospect of physically grinding that kind of schedule month after month after month as a full-time guy, it's not for me at this point in time. I've kind of mentally moved on from that."

So, Barrett is still able and willing to wrestle, meaning this match could very well happen. There's already talk of SummerSlam heading to Wembley next year (explaining why AEW's All In isn't returning to the UK until 2026) and we know WWE and London officials are eager to bring WrestleMania to the UK so that event would be a good test.

Would you like to see Barrett vs. McIntyre at a future WWE PLE?
