Ric Flair Issues Statement In Response To DARK SIDE OF THE RING Episode: "It Never Happened"

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has issued a response to last week's episode of Dark Side of the Ring, and while there's no sign of an apology, he does deny that latest round of allegations. Check it out...

Last week's episode of Dark Side of the Ring recounted the events of the "Plane Ride From Hell," and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair wasn't painted in the best of lights. It was alleged that he cornered an air stewardess and attempted to force the woman to touch his penis, something the Nature Boy has denied on several occasions over the years.

Since the episode aired, Flair has had commercials pulled from television and WWE has removed the last of his merchandise from their online store. There are also rumblings his AEW debut might be scrapped, but the legendary pro wrestler has now shared a statement on social media.

"I allowed my personal life and the lives of my wife and children to be turned upside down for one reason: Whether it’s good or bad, even the really bad, the truth has to matter. Even in wrestling," Flair said of ESPN's '30 for 30' special that broke down his past troubles.

"My issues have been well documented over my 40+ year career. The impact of drinking too much (which nearly killed me 5 years ago) has been told time and time and time again," he continued. "The reason Rory (or anyone else for that matter) never heard stories of me forcing myself on ANYONE is simple: it never happened."

It's no great surprise that Flair has once again denied the allegations, but times have changed, and his actions in general simply aren't acceptable by today's standards. Something that is noteworthy here is that there's no sign of an apology here, even for what we know the Nature Boy did do on that flight.

Well, this is becoming quite a tough situation, isn't it?

On one hand I would never want to call a victim of something like this a liar.

On the other hand, I understand what Flair is saying, and I do find it weird that all these years later, and after all these different wrestlers have told their version of this story, not once has anyone ever mentioned the incident of Flair cornering this stewardess and forcing himself on her.

Something no one seems to be talking about is how this stewardess said that Dustin Rhodes (Goldust) is the one that eventually came and pulled Flair away from her. If that's the case, then it sounds like someone needs to talk to him. Let's get his side of the story and what he saw.

Because at the end of the day, with no actual witnesses to say her story is true, I have a very hard time condemning a 72 year old man who never had a single similar accusation in his very long career, where he surely would have had many chances to do it.

@CorndogThief - Maybe because they were told to keep quiet about Flair. Even Jim Ross said he went unpunished like he was a made man, untouchable.

@CorndogThief - Tommy Dreamer, someone who vehemently defended Flair in the doc, even admitted it happened. He even went onto defend it saying that's just what Flair does. Why do we need Dustin when both Dreamer and RVD corroborated the story during the doc?

@CorndogThief It's funny, on the one hand, you barely wrote a sentence. Then the other hand you wrote three paragraphs. It's clear which hand you prefer.

Ric quoted one person to corroborate his story. And that person said Ric did a lot of drinking, philandering, and adultery... probably not the best quote to use in this case.

Two people on that plane cooborated the stewardess' story. And many people said Ric would walk around in the robe for fun. When you're drunk, stupid things happen. For Ric to say this NEVER HAPPENED is childish. Multiple people saw it happen. He should have said anything but that, or listened to his wife and not said anything at all.

We should be asking Ric to recall that night. Does he remember the stewardess' name? Does he remember what song Dustin sang over the mic? Does he remember dancing down the aisle in his robe? Or was he too drunk to remember anything that happened?
