Last week's episode of Dark Side of the Ring recounted the events of the "Plane Ride From Hell," and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair wasn't painted in the best of lights. It was alleged that he cornered an air stewardess and attempted to force the woman to touch his penis, something the Nature Boy has denied on several occasions over the years.
Since the episode aired, Flair has had commercials pulled from television and WWE has removed the last of his merchandise from their online store. There are also rumblings his AEW debut might be scrapped, but the legendary pro wrestler has now shared a statement on social media.
"I allowed my personal life and the lives of my wife and children to be turned upside down for one reason: Whether it’s good or bad, even the really bad, the truth has to matter. Even in wrestling," Flair said of ESPN's '30 for 30' special that broke down his past troubles.
"My issues have been well documented over my 40+ year career. The impact of drinking too much (which nearly killed me 5 years ago) has been told time and time and time again," he continued. "The reason Rory (or anyone else for that matter) never heard stories of me forcing myself on ANYONE is simple: it never happened."
It's no great surprise that Flair has once again denied the allegations, but times have changed, and his actions in general simply aren't acceptable by today's standards. Something that is noteworthy here is that there's no sign of an apology here, even for what we know the Nature Boy did do on that flight.
