During the latest edition of the
Steve Austin Show, the WWE Hall of Famer caught up with former WWE Superstar Rob Van Dam. He's currently making headlines for his work in IMPACT Wrestling as part of a real-life "thruple," but he also talked to the Texas Rattlesnake about his new documentary,
Headstrong.
"I’ve had hundreds, seriously, hundreds, of concussions," he claims before going on to talk in detail about the many times he's taken chair shots to the head over the years. Revealing that he'd sometimes lose his hearing or feel a spinning sensation after being hit, RVD admitted that he didn't really take concussions particularly seriously during the early days of his career.
As a result, he had no idea the effects would be long-lasting, and instead just thought it was a "woozyness" he would just need to deal with in the short-term. "I had double vision, but I just couldn’t shake it off and I kept thinking well. You know, it’ll be gone tomorrow, so I’m not gonna let anybody know. The show must go on."
It's shocking to think what RVD, and other wrestlers like him, have been through over the years, but we're obviously hopeful that he remains well and doesn't suffer any health issues moving forward.
