At October's Crown Jewel PLE, Seth Rollins defeated Cody Rhodes to become the 2025 Crown Jewel Champion. However, The Visionary's momentum was cut short when he was injured during the match and subsequently had to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship.
Unlike his "injury" from earlier this year, it's a legitimate issue that he's since undergone shoulder surgery for. The Vision has moved on without him—Austin Theory is the most recent addition to the faction—and all eyes are now on whether Rollins can return in time for WrestleMania.
In a new interview, Rollins opened up on having rotator cuff surgery two months ago and confirmed that he still has a lot of rehabilitation time ahead of him.
"I have a few more months left with my shoulder," Rollins confirmed. "I had the rotator cuff surgery eight weeks ago, almost nine, from where we’re talking right now. So I got another three months, four months at least."
That would put him in the right ballpark for the Showcase of the Immortals, but it seems somewhat unlikely that WWE would begin building a match around a Superstar they can't be 100% sure is going to be ready in time.
Elsewhere in the interview, Rollins weighed in on John Cena's divisive retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event. As we're sure you're aware, the Last Real Champion tapped out to Gunther in his final match, leading to significant fan backlash.
Cena smiled before giving up in what he's since explained was meant to be a sign he'd accepted that his time was up, and he was going peacefully. Not everyone sees eye-to-eye with the WWE icon, so what did Rollins think?
"I have a sneaky suspicion that it was his idea. I don’t know if that’s true because I didn’t ask," he explained. "If I’m blowing up your spot John, I’m sorry. I think it was his idea, personally. I think it was his idea."
"It’s customary in our business to, when you’re on your way out, put the guy over. If John Cena had won the match, we wouldn’t even be having the conversation today. No one would be talking about it. At the end of it, we’d be like, 'Aw, that was great.' That’s it. There would be no money to be made," Rollins concluded.
