Drew Gulak's surprise departure from WWE was recently brought up on Wrestling Observer Live and, as we heard over the weekend, it all boils down to the company not wanting to give the former 205 Live star a raise. However, Bryan Alvarez claims that there are those within WWE who are extremely upset about him seemingly leaving.

"I checked around and there were two stories," Alvarez noted. "One was that his contract expired and one that he had been released. So what happened was, he was negotiating a new contract and the contract expired after SmackDown and he had wanted a raise."

"So, Drew Gulak wanted a raise and they said no and then they pulled the contract offer so if you want to argue that he wasn’t actually released then you’re welcome to because his contract did expire, but they let him go because he wanted more money," he continued.

Dave Meltzer then pointed out that Gulak is being represented by Barry Bloom and that while the belief is that he is now gone from WWE, it's possible that it's not a dead issue, and he will happily return if a deal can be worked out.

Still, now isn't a great time to want a raise, especially after WWE recently cut a huge list of talent to save money during the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, it will be interesting seeing how this situation is potentially resolved this week.
