Last month, Mustafa Ali shocked the masses by returning to TNA.
The former X-Division Champion had an incredible 2024 and that’s thanks to TNA. Following his surprising WWE release, Ali came into the promotion strong by beating Chris Sabin for the X-Division title at No Surrender.
But it wasn’t just about Ali winning a title. The former WWE star was able to display his charisma and mic skills thanks to his politician gimmick. Ali held the X-Division title for 148 days and left TNA shortly after dropping it to Mike Bailey.
There were whispers that his next destination could be AEW. Ali even has a video of him talking to fans outside of the venue of All Out. However, that never came to light. It all came down to TNA being the right fit for the 38-year-old.
“TNA was the right fit for, me, and I was the right fit for TNA.” Ali stated on The Takedown. “As you know, in wrestling in general and the industry of entertainment, sometimes it’s right place, right time, but it’s got to be for both parties. I absolutely love what the industry is today. I love that one roster has several options, several big time options to go make big time money, and not just the wrestlers. I’m talking about medical staff, producers, people behind the scenes, even people that cover the the industry. There’s so much to do that, if you’re not successful somewhere, it’s it’s really on you.”
Ali goes into depth about what he likes about TNA. It allows him to be creative and expand his talents, according to the former X-Division Champion.
“I felt like TNA was going to provide me with a platform to creatively really expand, some of these other organizations, I don’t want to say ‘bottleneck,’ but there’s a certain process there. The one thing that I really enjoyed about my previous stint at TNA is that if I wanted an answer, if I wanted to do something, if I needed a ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ I knew who to talk to and I would get that answer within minutes.”
Ali’s run is off to a good start as he seems primed to feud with Mike Santana. Ali is also campaigning to become the next TNA World Champion. Is a world title run in the future of the former WWE star? We'll find out soon! Ali is currently scheduled for a segment this Thursday on TNA Impact!
