Last July, former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was involved in a high-speed collision. That saw the billionaire trash his $300,000 Bentley Continental GT Speed, after he'd swerved through highway traffic at speeds exceeding 100mph.
McMahon rear-ended a BMW in the incident that, fortunately, ended with no one being seriously hurt. Now, The Sun has managed to acquire footage of the crash, along with the controversial figure's subsequent conversations with police on the scene.
As you can see below, a Connecticut State Police officer tells McMahon that he was driving almost 115mph and notes that he appeared to be attempting to get away by speeding up.
McMahon, who appears confused and denies trying to escape, explains that he was on his way to visit his granddaughter for her birthday and adds, "I'm trying to drive. I haven't been driving my car in God knows how long." The 80-year-old then scolds himself by saying, "God damn it. Stupid f***ing fool."
McMahon later appeared in court in Stamford, Connecticut, and a judge decided that the charges—a misdemeanour summons for reckless driving and following too closely—would be dropped if he completes an accelerated pretrial rehabilitation program.
He must also keep his record clean for the next year, donate $1000 to charity, and adhere to all driving laws. Next October, the charges will be expunged from McMahon's record without a conviction.
In a statement, McMahon's attorney, Mark Sherman, said, "It was good news. Not every car accident is a crime and the judge agreed he deserved this dismissal, and we’re grateful for that."
The release of this footage comes after McMahon was dealt another blow this week when Janel Grant, the woman at the centre of the sexual misconduct allegations and lawsuit he finds himself dealing with, appeared at a Capitol news briefing in Hartford, Connecticut, hosted by the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence.
The event addressed the use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in workplace misconduct cases and their impact on survivors. Grant spoke about the NDA that initially barred her from discussing the alleged abusive relationship she had with McMahon, as well as the fallout from the June 2022 Wall Street Journal article that publicly named her.
