It's unfortunate, but over the past few years, it has become apparent that The Undertaker isn't the competitor he once was. COVID meant that no fans were allowed in the building for WrestleMania last year, but that led to a cinematic Boneyard Match that saw the Deadman ride off into the sunset after burying AJ Styles alive.
It was a perfect sendoff for the Deadman, though he did appear at Survivor Series last year for a retirement ceremony of sorts. Is he ever really done with in-ring action, though?
During a recent interview, he admitted that he gets that itch when the Show of Shows starts to roll around, but knows that he can't perform at the level fans expect now. "The passion is obviously still there. I think that will always be there. It’s just the physical side of it. My time has come, my time has gone."
"This is the WWE and things happen, you never know. But I know that my time has passed and it’s time for these young guys to step up and take over and lead us to where we’re going."
Despite his in-ring career being at an end, The Undertaker is likely to remain part of the WWE family for the rest of his life. The Phenom recently shot a movie with The New Day for Netflix (in character), and made appearances for the company in Saudi Arabia not too long ago.
And, honestly, even if a match is completely off the table, we're sure this WWE Legend still has at least a few Chokeslams and Tombstone Piledrivers left in him...
